Element-ary

Well, the Passat was a lemon. :-(

Grandmother got a call from the dealer, Saturn of Hadley, this morning. She called me and told me that she had bad news. Apparently, they put the Passat up on the lift, and it won't even pass inspection. Having driven the car, and it seemed fine, I think that they found another buyer who is willing to pay more.

Well Gram comes and picks me up and I begin my third trip to Hadley to look at cars. He shows me two cars that would have the same monthly payment, A Saab 93 and a Saturn L200. They were both ugly.

I ix-nayed both of them, and we drove to Riverdale Road where we laid the ground work on a Honda Element. Before that, we wandered around going to various dealers in the area and found nothing.

Gram, then, takes me back to Saturn of Hadley, and she buys the L200 he offered me. She traded her Ion for the much more luxurious car. Its got heated leather seats, sun roof, power everything...really nice, but still pretty ugly.

So after hours of paperwork Gram gets to drive her new car home, she drives much better. The Ion was a much lighter car, and every tap on the steering wheel made for a swervy ride home. The L200 is a much better car for her.

So, Car shopping for me landed me a potential* Honda Element (The car I wanted all along) and Gram a Saturn L200. She is a third time Saturn buyer and swears by them. Fortunately for me, Saturn of Hadley is owned by Balise, who happens to own a Honda Dealership. I believe there is a substantial loyal customer discount.

*Now, I say potential, becuase, though I will be paying, and though I can get it...Grandma is going to try like hell to talk me out of it...however, She is signing all the papers becuase it's illegal to make a contract with a minor. I also have to sell the Intrepid. It has a KBB Retail value of $6,925, but we are going to let it go for $5,500. It should fly. It needs to be washed and waxed, and a bunch of little things, but it should be no big deal. I can move it in a week. Then I put the down payment on my Element Lease.

I don't see how so many people think its an ugly car. I think its very cool, very futuristic, and very me.
